CRSPE Scholarship Banquet held on September 1, 2011, at Lone Star Steak House in Canton, Ohio

The Canton Regional Society of Professional Engineers (CRSPE) awarded four engineering scholarships to local students at its recent annual meeting. CRSPE awards scholarships each year based on the success of its spring golf outing. This year $3,000 was available, and more than 30 students applied for the scholarships.

 The winners were as follow:

• Nathan Millard, a graduate of Northwest High School, who is currently a junior at Miami University majoring in biomedical engineering
• James Simmerer, a graduate of Louisville High School, who is a senior in aerospace engineering at The Ohio State University,
• Kevin Carper, a graduate of Louisville High School and a junior majoring in  civil engineering at Ohio Northern University
• Ian Reynolds, a graduate of Perry High School, who is a junior at The Ohio State University majoring in chemical engineering

 All four students met the requirements of being Stark County residents, attending   an Ohio engineering school, and graduating in 2012 or 2013. Their grade point averages range from 3.3 to 3.9.

 “CRSPE is thrilled to be able to help local students pursue professional careers in the engineering field,” said Bob Fonte, chair of the scholarship selection committee and director of the Stark County Park District.
